Chords Identification Exercise For Beginners
This tests your knowledge of major and minor chords in theory. Read my quick guides to learn the notes of ALL major and minor chords. Memorising the guide is the quickest way to learn it. But a more memorable way to study them will be by learning to play many songs so that you will eventually come across all the chords sooner or later. A hybrid of these 2 ways is more likely to work for everyone.
How does it work?
Three notes will be highlighted for you in the question. You have to answer whether its a major chord or a minor chord which will be formed using the given 3 notes. Simple right? Try out the tests given below.

Try out these exciting 1 min challenges.
Easy test - Everything works just like how you have prepared using the guide. Questions are not twisted in any way. No tricks. Just straight forward.
Hard test - Here the questions may include inversions. Let me explain with an example. Let's say we have C major chord. The notes are C E G right? But when the notes appear in a different order, say E G C, it is said to be in a inversion. Though the notes are appearing in a different order, it is a C major chord since we are still using the same set of notes.

Quirky Genius Mistakes
There is a shortcut for this test. Major and minor chords have unique pattern of intervals between the notes. You can calculate that for all inversions of the chords too. But this a wrong way to do this test. DO NOT do this. This method is unhelpful to learn the notes of different chords. The point of this test is to learn the notes of each and every chord.
Dominant 7th?
As a beginner you are required to learn the dominant 7th chords too. But I didn't add it in the test because it has 4 notes. Since the major and minor chords have only 3 notes, it is easy to differentiate the dominant 7th chord without knowing the exact notes of each chord. So the test will be futile if I added dominant 7th here. I will add it along with the advanced chords like major 7th, minor 7th, etc. But still you should learn them now as a beginner since it's very useful to apply them in the songs you learn.
Limitation of this test
This test only asks you to answer whether it's a major or a minor chord. It doesn't ask you to specifically mention whether it's a C major or a F major, for example. So it's definitely better if you can test yourself in someway which gives you that option.
